Therapy with Tony Martin, MSW, ASW

Tony (he/him) is an Oakland-based therapist whose work is grounded in relational depth, mindfulness, and evidence-based methods. He works with adolescents, adults, couples, and families, helping clients navigate life transitions, relationships, identity, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, and spiritual emergence. Rather than surface-level coping, Tony helps clients explore the patterns and dynamics that shape their experience, uncovering the underlying forces that have been in the way. His strengths-based approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MB-CBT), integrating mindfulness and contemplative practices to cultivate awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.

Clients describe sessions with Tony as a space where they can slow down, reflect, and confront challenges while receiving guidance that is both compassionate and direct. His background in secular mindfulness, Buddhism includes over a decade of practice involving MBSR teacher training, Spirit Rock’s Advanced Practitioner Program, and 150+ days of intensive silent retreats. He provides a holistic, nuanced approach that honors mind, body and spirit. Tony also provides psychedelic support for those seeking guided work with non-ordinary states. Grounded in harm reduction and informed by the historical and cultural contexts of these medicines, this work is integrated into a broader therapeutic framework to help clients process insights, deepen self-understanding, and apply learning to everyday life.

Whether you are navigating transitions, exploring identity, addressing trauma, or seeking deeper insight into your personal and professional life, Tony provides a supportive, integrative, and professional environment to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
